And the winner is…..?

3 Mar

It’s been hard to avoid the run-up (and the results) of this years Oscar ceremony. All those A-list actors queuing up to cop a feel of the coveted gold-plated statuette, have really the media and the public in a film frenzy for 2011,

But lets face it, this year more than ever we all knew who the winners were going to be, even before they were announced on Sunday- yes, we mean you Natalie and Colin.

One thing that always takes viewers of the ceremony by surprise however, is the red carpet dresses, and the 83rd Academy Awards were no different.

This time around, stars could be seen strutting their stuff in red, nude, a bit of blue, plenty of metallic and lots of feminine and floaty fabrics.

Pregnant Natalie Portman showed off her bump in a purple Rodarte dress, before picking up her Best Actress gong for The Black Swan

Co-star Mila Kunis was a vision in a purple, this time pastel, Elie Saab gown

Hilary Swank went metalic in fabulous feathered a Gucci gown

Also rocking the metalic trend in silver Calvin Klein was newest Gleek and current chart topper Gwyneth Paltrow

Nominee Michelle Williams went all demure in classic Chanel

Moving into neutrals, Halle Berry marched down the red carpet in Marchesa

Nicole Kidman showed off her willowy figure in gorgeous Dior Couture

Best Supporting Actress winner Melissa Leo attended the awards in a structured and lace-like Marc Bouwer number

Looking like a cute Christmas fairy, Best Supporting Actress nominee and teen Hailee Steinfeld wore Marchesa

Not sure why she was there, but Mandy Moore, of A Walk To Remember fame, did look nice in a glamorous Monique Lhuillier frock

Reese Witherspoon rocked the swinging 60's look, with her big hair and beautiful black and white Armani Prive dress

Helena Bonham Carter went back to black too, in her oh so gothic, corseted Colleen Atwood

Figher actress Amy Adams also went over to the dark side, with a dark blue sequin L'Wren Scott gown

One dress that didn't disappoint was Jennifer Hudsons, a bright orange Versace vision

Looking radiant in red on the red carpet, last years Best Actress winner Sandra Bullock wore Vera Wang

Host Anne Hathaway was also a vision in red, this time in a stunning Valentino gown and matching lips

What did you think if this year’s Oscars? What did you think of the dresses? Did you prefer the paler, or more adventurous colours?

I loved Mila Kunis’s dress. It was so beautiful! Reese Wetherspoon’s sixties style was great as well.
