Carrying on with our AW11 trend forecasts, this post focuses on the hottest animal print of the season. Sorry leopard print, whilst you will always remain a firm favourite in our wardrobes there’s a new print that has slithered its way to the front: snakeskin.
Even though the leopard print is sticking around this A/W, it’s the snakeskin print that everyone is talking about.
Designers such as Chloe, Prada, Gucci, Cavalli and Missoni all had snakeskin items on their catwalks and celebs such as J-Lo, Kourtney Kardashian, Vanessa Hudgens and Mila Kunis have been spotted in this print.
When you see supermodel/style queen Kate Moss rocking a trend then you know it is officially hot! Just a few weeks ago the newly crowned Mrs Hince was spotted in a snakeskin dress. She was also papped at Glastonbury rocking some snakeskin trousers.
As someone who loves a bit of leopard print (more like a lot!) i’ve always been sceptical about wearing other animal prints especially faux snakeskin. Styled the wrong way there’s a danger of looking like you’ve just stepped out of bad 80’s rock music video. I think the key is to find one piece and keep it simple, just like the celebs above.
So taking my own advice, I now own a piece of snakeskin! Who’d have thought it ay? The item in question is this pussybow snakeskin print blouse from Next. I’ve worn it with black treggings for a more smarter look. I don’t think i’m brave enough to style it any other way!
If like me you want to get in on the snakeskin trend then here’s a few clothing items that i’ve picked out. Pair snakeskin with black/white/cream colours for a more chic look.
If you’re still not feeling confident enough then why not try some snakeskin accessories like Mila Kunis? A great way of adding a touch of snakeskin to your outfit is through a handbag- so many lovely ones available in all sorts of shapes and colours. My favourite is this Misha snakeskin box bag from Boohoo which is available in 3 colours. Pefect office to bar accessory!
What do you think of snakeskin? How are you wearing or how would you wear this trend?
