“Everybody let go, we can make a dance floor just like a circus…”
Bit of Britney for you there. Might seem a bit random but hear me out. See last Thursday (27th October) Wardrobe were invited to Harvey Nichols 10th birthday party held at the Mailbox in Birmingham. From the moment we got the invite we knew it was a party we couldn’t turn down. The promise of a circus theme and a glamorous dress code was just too intriguing.
So me and Bhav- being the Midlanders in Wardrobe- RSVP’d and then began to frantically think about what to wear. See we don’t really do ‘glamorous’…
In the end Bhav went for a black lacy number and I went for a black sequin dress.
So anyway the party:
Well we’d arranged to meet outside the Mailbox with some of the other ‘Brummie’ bloggers that had been invited; Emma from Fashionmommy, Emily from Emily-Jayne and Em from Styleandgrit. Once we got inside we also met up with Sian from teaantoastblog (and her boyfriend Lewis) and Kate from Bespokerose.
Just standing at the underpass outside the Mailbox you could get a taster of what was in store for the night. A red carpet, fire-eaters, guys on stilts, a ring leader etc- it just screamed ‘CIRCUS’. A fashionable circus mind- no clowns in sight, just Christian Louboutins dahling.
It was amazing. Two floors of circus related fun. There was CANDYFLOSS, games, music, cool decor and waiters dressed up as ringmasters serving mini hot dogs, pizzas, burgers and fish and chips- mmm. There were also magicians and entertainers walking around. We had one magician who seemed particularly fond of our group haha. It was such a fun environment. Harvey Nics had literally turned the shop floor into a dance floor (just like a Circus hehe)! Amongst the partying was also a catwalk show with a circus theme of course- showcasing all the gorgeous items available at Harvey Nichols.
But the thing we loved the most was the Mulberry photobooth as well as the dressing up photo booth. No pouting poses for us just full on LOLZ and immature faces! Oh and we also got our face painted. I was a bit worried when Emily wanted her face painted as I thought “I don’t want to be a tiger or a lion” but it was obviously grown up face painting. We all got a cool ‘Ziggy Stardust’ esque pattern on our eyes. How cool? We had a lot of people asking us where we got it done as the talented ladies that did had to dash early on.
Me and Bhav had so much fun with the other bloggers. It wouldn’t be a party without spotting a few ‘celebs’, WAGS & footballers such as Danielle Lloyd, Alexandra Burke (meh), Aisleyne from BB, Adee Phelan, Nikki Sanderson, Lee Hendry and erm Joey Essex! Smells dead reem does Joey…
It was such a good night and we honestly think Harvey Nichols did themselves proud. They were such good hosts. This was certainly a 10th birthday party worth remembering. We would like to thank Harvey Nichols Birmingham- in particular Lisa Piddington & Retail Birmingham for inviting us to this ‘spectacular show’. During the party, they were filming all the action so have a look at this video to see for yourselves just how amazing it was. See if you can spot Em from StyleandGrit and me- I’m totes doing my Cheryl Cole ‘Fight for this Love’ impression!!
We can’t wait till the circus next comes to town ;) hehe….
***Also whilst you’re here. Can I ask a big favour from everybody who is on twitter. A few weeks ago I entered a Sarenza UK blog comp. Well my blog post made the top 15 shortlist. They’ve made it a twitter vote to decide the winner, so I need you tweeters!! All you have to do is tweet this following message:
“My vote for the @SarenzaUK competition goes to Sunny @Wardrobemag #SarenzaUK “
I’d love you all BARE if you did this for me. If you have a private twitter, you’ll have to follow Sarenza for the vote to be registered- but you can unfollow them later should you wish. Voting before the 9th November. Come on tweeps, help a brother out. Thanks in advance :) ***
